Jenny Brillhart has a practice that is a dialogue between made and found spaces and forms in relation to place, structure, and function. Concerned with the language of painting, she uses collage, paint, found material, and photography. The works evolve with a specific history and diary of process, while preserving the initial impulse of authorship and purpose. As one thing leads to another, the function and meaning of art practice, and what it suggests, is embedded within the forms. Through the manipulation of objects and material and the process of invention, she studies and balances ideas of beauty, form, and structure to create an architectural, pragmatic narrative.
