Jenny Brillhart: Noonday

Grand in scale, the studio landscapes of Jenny Brillhart transfer some of the inherent advantage of heightened attention to what the paintings depict. In questioning the hierarchy of things, Brillhart foregrounds that which is usually overlooked. Originating from still lives of her studio space – a spartan, converted garage – the completed artworks simultaneously reference their status as artifacts created in the studio, their own construction, and the structure of the studio itself.
