Carrie Meek International Business Park:
Foundation Building, Amazon Distribution Center + Campus

In 2018 Onajide Shabaka was selected for an Art in Public Places commission at Carrie Meek International Business Park in Opa Locka.

In partnership with Amazon, which has a distribution center on the airport campus, Carrie Meek Foundation’s building will serve as a workforce training center for the Opa Locka community.
For his commission Three (female) Totems, 2020, Shabaka completed three abstract, geometric formed sculptures honoring women’s initiation to adults in the Central African Republic. The three monumental aluminum totems installed at the Amazon Distribution Center + Campus were derived from a carved ritual walking stick found African region.

Three (female) Totems, 2020 was completed on 31 March 2021.
