Magnus Sigurdarson is participating in Nr. 3 Umhverfing in the Snæfellsnes peninsula, Iceland presented by The Academy of the Senses.
Nr. 3 Umhverfing will be focused on Snæfellsnes, a peninsula just North of Reykjavik. At the tip of Snæfellsnes lies the remarkable and extraordinary spiritual powerhouse Snæfellsjökull (Snæfell´s Glacier), now a cold (inactive) volcano. In the book Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne, professor Otto Lidenbrock departs on a journey to West Iceland, specifically to Snæfellsjökull where he believes the entrance into the earth may be. Forty artists have gathered over the last weeks to express their personal connection to the area with site-specific works that cover most of the peninsula and it´s fishing towns; Rif, Hellissandur, Snæfellsbær, Grundarfjordur, and Stykkisholmur.
The show´s epicenter will be located in Breidablik, Snæfellsnes´s cultural center, where the artists present their connection to the area and maps and catalog of the Nr. 3 Umhverfing will be available. The exhibition opens June 22, 2019, and stays open until August 23rd, 2019. Organized bus tours will be scheduled but note the trip will take 5 hours as the area is wast and so many works and historically important places will be visited. Magnus Sigurdarson´s work, A Journey to the Centre of Love 2019, will be presented at Hotel Budir, where Magnus spent 5 summers as a chef in the highly regarded Fish Restaurant of Hotel Budir.
A billboard will be presented with the work, A Journey to the Centre of Love 2019, at the entrance of Krambudin next to the hotel, occupied by the Witches of Budir.
