Bert Green Fine Art is pleased to present Double Life / Flayed Beings / Hidden Counterparts, a group show curated by Detroit-based artist Richard Haley, featuring works by Felecia Chizuko Carlisle, Richard Haley, Trisha Holt and Bailey Scieszka.

All four artists engage in experiments in poetic visual moments via the lens-based technologies that saturate our environment, namely photography and video. Steeped in conceptual practice, each artist employs an unabashed manipulation of imagery to achieve their effect. Cumulatively, these artists mobilize their art practices as a heuristic device, offering up images of sudden salience and asking: What are we supposed to do with the information that comes our way? What are we learning? What does it have to do with survival? What are we preparing for?
Felecia Chizuko Carlisle’s camera sinks deep into the intimate immensity of tiny paper cardboard sculptures, covered in graphite and photographed under colored lights. Richard Haley juxtaposes organic and digital ephemera in puppet surrogates of his body. Bailey Scieszka embodies the persona of her character, Old Put, a bizarre clown amalgamation of imagery and language. Trisha Holt plays with doubles and duplication as she stages repeat visits to iconic landscapes with her own image inserted.

Felecia Chizuko Carlisle‘s artworks are presented courtesy of Emerson Dorsch Gallery, Miami FL.
