Pulse Art Fair - New York

Brookhart Jonquil

Emerson Dorsch will present the work of sculptor Brookhart Jonquil at PULSE NY 2016.

Brookhart Jonquil’s sculptures use architectural materials such as steel, mirrors, glass, cement, and fluorescent tubes. Drawing from post-minimal artists such as Gordon Matta-Clark and Robert Smithson, as well as Light and Space figure such as Robert Irwin and James Turrell, Jonquil’s constructions engage reflections and refractions of light to create delicately immaterial forms within physical structures, with a palpable use of gravity and tension. Jonquil’s work draws from the history of Utopian architecture, as well as mathematics, physics, and Plato, to probe the ways that societies as well as individuals grapple with the attempt for perfection.  Each of the works can be seen on Artsy.

Emerson Dorsch has been working with Brookhart Jonquil since 2011, with 2 solo exhibitions at the gallery, and 2 solo presentations at art fairs, including IMPULSE Miami 2011, where he won the PULSE prize. Emerson Dorsch is a contemporary art gallery based in Miami, FL. It is run by partners Brook Dorsch and Tyler Emerson-Dorsch. The gallery's landmark location in Wynwood closed in June 2015, and the gallery plans to open its new location in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami in Fall 2016.

PULSE New York will again take place March 3-6, 2016 at the Metropolitan Pavilion at 125 West 18th St in Manhattan.
